What if you had to live in your spiritual state forever?

I’m not saying it is so. But go there for a moment. Are you tense? Intense? Passionate about causes? Sad. Happy if things are happy, angry if things are not? Consider your soul’s state before the Lord in this phase of your life. Suppose you had to stay in it for all eternity. Is that how you would want to live forever?

Again, I’m not saying it is or isn’t so. But consider the better alternative. If in the future Jesus will be sufficient for your soul, he will be enough, you can rest in his love. Abide in him. Have faith for the journey. If in some sweet day of the future you can let your intensity go or let your anger go or let your self defense go… why can’t it happen today?

It was Jesus who said, “abide in my love.” John 15. Suppose he meant for it now, and not some sweet day. If our hearts are dwelling in his land, then they are safe from abiding in any other land at all. In this way he becomes a rock and a refuge, a fortress, a high tower, a city not made by hands.
