“Therefore thus will I do unto thee O Israel; and because I will do this unto thee, Prepare to meet thy God” Amos 4:12.
At the end of the age there are many forms of readiness and preparations to make. We should be ready for the wars. We should be ready for the famines. We should be ready for the martyrdom. But the one that the scripture speaks the most of is to prepare to meet thy God. To sit and ponder on your first moment with Jesus face-to-face. To consider that meeting with a clean conscience ad a heart that is ready.
Yes, it is true that we have Jesus spiritually, and this will be so for eternity. But the Scriptures do put a special emphasis on meeting him, face-to-face, and the restoration of his person, in and on the earth. Without conceiving of the real Jesus among us, what basis of deep love do we have? It is a deep love for him that reminds us that Jacob felt it only a few days to wait seven years for his spouse. And so the lovers, who begin the end of the age, will find that the seven years will feel like just a few days in anticipation of meeting their eternal beloved.
It is this preparation that gives clear guidance for all the other preparations that should be made.
We are not to focus on the waves that separate us and Jesus. But we do walk through them. Our eyes tell us why we walk through them if we don’t let go of the view of Christ.
