The lovers are the proclaimers

by Daniel Mastrolonardo

“Jesus is the Christ the son of God.” John 20.

This phrase is everywhere in the New Testament. It is the core belief that the writers want to imbue to the readers. Notice how in Acts the sermons all explain how Jesus is the Christ the son of God. If men hear and believe then Jesus can become their savior to whom they can repent to and be saved. Notice the order. First it is believe in Jesus, second it is be saved after calling on his name.

If we preach salvation and try to explain it from a “you’re going to hell” point of view, then Jesus is just the means to an end. He does not remain superior to all ends. But the New Testament example is wonderful. Preach Christ as the son of God, and then explain your relationship to him. That way men can choose Jesus first and salvation second. Not salvation first and maybe Jesus one day. This may be why there are a lot of unconverted people among the churches.

Jesus is the eternal gospel which the Rev 14 angel proclaimed, just like the angels to the shepherds. He is the gospel in all epochs, eras and ages. It’s just that in this epoch he is good news as a savior. But soon he will be good news for other reasons yet to be revealed in the coming ages.

We need to get over ourselves and get into Jesus, so that the good news he is can stand out in our hearts and be an easy proclamation on our lips.
