“The church is now the display of the manifold wisdom of God..” Eph 3:10.
Here’s a simple question to determine location and direction with the Lord.
What percent of my day do I spend as the image and display of Jesus Christ, and what percentage am I the display of myself?
Jesus Christ is the head of a body. The body is one with the head. To see the body is to perceive the person who is bound up in the head. So what portion of my day can the angels and man perceive Christ living his life in my vessel?
The church is the display of God’s wisdom. All of creation, men and angels, can behold Christ in us. So what portion of my day is displaying Christ, and what portion is displaying me?
The body is subject to the head. The body yields to the head and the head demonstrates his will through the submission of the body. What portion of my day am I in subjection to the head such that angels and men can perceive Christ?
In the eternal state we will be displaying Christ’s wisdom. It will be a glorious state. In that day we can imagine how we would be the display of Christ to them. Our verse says “now”. Now we are that to them. So what portion of my day today do angels and men perceive the glory of Christ through me?
This simple question and test is sufficient to aim us and motivate us that we ought not be ourselves, but vessels of Christ. This kind of oneness must be brought to a complete state in our day so that Paul can be correct: right now we are the display.
May God finish in us what he started.
